Areas We Cover in Hertfordshire and North London

Potters Bar

The heart of what we cover. Potters Bar sits on the M25/A1(M) corridor and has a mix of pre-war semis, 1960s and 70s estates, and newer developments around the station and Darkes Lane. What that means for aluminium doors and windows:

Rear extensions are common on the semi-detached stock — sliding doors are winning here over bifolds.
The older parts of town near the church have some heritage-sensitive properties where Jansen steel or heritage aluminium becomes relevant.
Parking for installation vans can be tight in the town centre and around the older estates.

Just south (Barnet) and just north (Cuffley) of Potters Bar. Barnet's older housing stock leans Edwardian and Victorian; Cuffley is a mixed picture with substantial detached properties in the older parts and newer development towards Northaw. What we typically see:

Barnet: heritage sightlines matter more than average — heritage aluminium and occasional steel projects.
Cuffley: larger extensions with bigger door openings — often 4- and 5-metre sliders.
Both areas well-served by installers happy to drive from central Hertfordshire.

Brookmans Park and South Mimms

The villages just west of Potters Bar. Genuinely rural feel, mix of period cottages and substantial newer detached homes. Local considerations:

Conservation area sensitivities in parts of Brookmans Park — talk to your architect before assuming aluminium will get approved.
South Mimms straddles the M25 — acoustic performance matters for west-facing windows on properties near the motorway.
Longer driveways = less installation access hassle.

Wider Hertfordshire

Our editorial focus is on the M25/A1(M) corridor, but the systems and advice generally apply across:

Hertford and Ware — older town centres, some listed properties, heritage-sensitive.
Hemel Hempstead — large mix of housing stock, active extension market.
St Albans — conservation areas require careful window specification.
Buntingford — small towns and rural properties, longer supply chains for aluminium fabricators.

North London Border

We also get regular questions from readers in the far-northern London postcodes — the areas that sit just inside the M25. New Barnet, Hadley Wood, Cockfosters, Whetstone. The specifications and pricing bands are broadly the same as Potters Bar/Barnet — the main difference is parking, which is worse.
